LEARNING ABOUT
SELF & OTHERS
IN ORDER TO OPTIMIZE WELL-BEING & GROWTH.

We support kids & adults as they learn about SELF & OTHERS.

We enthusiastically & dynamically:
  • support an understanding of the BRAIN-BODY connection.
  • create & contribute to safe, secure, predictable, & organized environments.
  • educate, model & incorporate elements of attachment theory, healthy relationship patterns, co-regulation strategies, & development of self-regulation skills.

DYNAMIC. EFFECTIVE.

One size does not fit all.

As such, we customize our educational consulting services
within each home, school & school board setting
in order to provide the most dynamic & effective support

- yielding life-long skills & growth.

ATTACHMENT.

Attachment is a deep & enduring affectionate emotional bond connecting one person to another.
Our attachment experiences lay the groundwork for our expectations & experiences in future relationships.
Secure attachment sets the stage for optimized development throughout a person's lifetime: emotionally, socially & behaviourally.

RELATIONSHIPS.

Our relationships can be caring, responsive, nurturing, & ideally, promote healthy personal growth.
Alternatively, some relationship experiences can lead to
self-esteem issues,
self-regulatory challenges, self-harm, aggression, cycles of abuse, & in essence,
hinder our well-being.

How can we best create & maintain healthy relationships?

CO-REGULATION.

Co-regulation is the birthplace of self-regulation. When children receive responsive feedback & engage in the attachment dance with attuned caregivers, they are able to build upon the regulatory capacities of those same adults. Ideally, adults can manage & reduce some environmental stressors, scaffold support, & model healthy regulating practices. From that foundation flourishes self-regulation.

SELF-REGULATION.

Self-regulation encompasses our brain-body responses
to stress, including energy expenditure, recovery, & restoration. We focus much of our work in self-regulation
on Dr. Stuart Shanker's Self-Reg® framework and trauma-informed care. To best support mindful self-regulatory skill development, we first explore the science behind energy, tension, & recognize individual stressors across the 5 Domains of Self-Reg®: Biological, Emotion, Cognitive, Social, Pro-Social. (S. Shanker)
